Are you at all interested in what's going on outside the U.S. ?
Would you be at all interested in one-off writing?
I'm not looking to advance my writing career, but I am competing in Baltimore's "Startup Weekend" event next week, and I'd love to share my experiences from that, as someone who's never attended anything like it.

That would be awesome! There's no need to be a regular contributor. I've changed the format of the page, so you can simply submit there and I'll help you get it posted with all of the appropriate credit, links and such. Good luck at the Startup Weekend too!
We're kind of abusing the format, in that it's me and two other guys bringing an idea to work on as a ready-made team. We haven't started any work, but we've given it lots of thought.
I'm anticipating an article titled somethingn like "How we cheated at StartupWeekend (and still lost)" or something like that.

I'd be interested to find out how many people go to startup weekend with pre-determined teams and use the weekend as a way to jump-start their project.
From the conversations I've had with people in the know, I'm the odd duck. This is what I get for planning the entire Startup Weekend before having any idea of what it's actually supposed to be about.
I wasn't even aware that there was a SoCal tech scene. Must have missed the memo.
There's definitely a growing community. We're hoping to help build it too. I'm that there are tech communities all over the country. Especially in places I never expected like North Carolina! I'm hoping that The Cafe can be a place where any tech entrepreneur, regardless of experience and location can contribute and learn.

Heh, it amazes me how many people haven't heard about the NC technology community, considering the history of RTP (the largest research park in the US)[1] and "The Triangle"[2] in general.
I guess we need to do more to promote the local scene. But FWIW, there's a big list of Triangle area startups here:

This is interesting. We're located in OC, and with the exception of the many "startups" being incubated by entertainment giants like Comcast/E!, I'm not aware of any SoCal tech/web startups.
I will bookmark this.

Maybe you'd be able to contribute a post sometime? Would you like it if we provided run-downs of local events?
UPDATE:
I've changed the submission page so that anybody can submit a post to be featured on The Startup Cafe. I want The Cafe to be a place for all tech entrepreneurs to share their stories, experiences and knowledge with the rest of the community.

You might want to call it something else to avoid confusion with http://startupcafe.co.uk/
You can do so here: http://thestartupcafe.com/write-for-the-startup-cafe/
Thanks! We can't wait to work with you.
