If I were pocketing $50M per year for 10 years, I wouldn't give a damn if the site wasn't around at the end.
The idea that a small percentage of inputs account for a large percentage of outputs does not mean that unexpected inputs account for a large percentage of the outputs. I see your thought pattern that unexpected events are rare, and thus, small in number, and thus, qualify as a small percentage of inputs. However, that does NOT mean that being unpredictable will have a large effect on the outcome of your situation and it definitely does not mean that those effects will be positive. Besides, if you are always unpredictable as a rule, then you are, by definition, predictable, and have just defeated your own purpose.
To say that he's wrong and that his ideas are laughable is very small-minded. He stated that he's a father of two -- he knows what he's talking about. If his statements don't describe your experience, that's because you've had different experiences -- not because he's wrong.
This is a silly problem for IE to have for sure (not that anyone's surprised), but really... if you are using more than 30 <style> tags, then you've likely got some fundamental design/architecture issues to begin with.
This was a very poorly written article. Nowhere in the article does it mention that these stats were adjusted for market share of each browser. Of course IE generates more clicks -- it has more users.
And what kind of math is being used in the 2nd paragraph that states that 1.05% is 80% greater than 0.21%? Or that 1.05% is 50% greater than 0.50%? No... that's double, or, in other words, 100% more likely. Or, in other words, IE users generate 200% of what Safari users do.
So mamy of these people cite the reason for not having a cell phone to be that they don't like the idea of being available all the time -- or some variant thereof.
