Marathon runners, climbers, etc you mentioned have a pretty narrow field of physical competence. No way in hell a climber can compare athletically to LeBron James.
At that distance, at the complete edge of the field (could’ve easily gone out of bounds), swarmed by two guys, with one hand. Most impressive things in history of sports might be a bit hyperbolic, but it’s pretty incredible.
The unapologetic close-mindedness of Americans, even in the more intelligent parts of the web, never ceases to baffle me. Really? Human experimentation started in the US?
And yet Mark Pincus is a multi-millionaire and a massive Valley success story. Not to mention the last guy that had Zuckerbeg's "zeal" and lived in a humble house died recently, and was known for being an unbearable dick to his employees.
It's usually a big can of worms to judge an entrepreneur by anything other than his success. Besides -- what is so wrong about Pincus wanting to get rich?
He brings up some good points, but what does this have to do with anything? Obviously the default state of a startup is failure... what do his preceding two paragraphs have to do with anything? I guess I just don't quite understand the point of this article.
If it's just a PSA about the fact that startups are hard work, I'm not sure what new information it is we're getting here or why this post is being upvoted to be honest.
Isn't it sad that building products that add real value into people's lives is turning into a novel idea? Stop building "clever products", build useful ones that people will love. Money comes later, imo.
Just store it on the server. There was no reason for inventory information to be hosted client-side. If the data was stored on the server and fed real-time you wouldn't have the security issue. What you WOULD have is latency issues, which is the primary issue with Node-based games (from my own experience), so that's probably why they avoided it. In a real game, that's how you'd have to do it.
Ugh. What purpose is this supposed to serve? Are we supposed to get annoyed and coerced into siding with this group? Let's not kid ourselves - these aren't activists. They're 4chan basement dwellers using the guise of a cause to wreak senseless damage.
Although I don't think they've actually done anything over the last 7 months so this is probably just another empty threat. Wasn't Facebook supposed to go down like a hundred different times?
