I hope Apple will repeat the same event at a venue in Asia Pacific to cater for the other half of the world. Maybe at Sydney, Shanghai, HongKong or Singapore.
Discount will never happen as the seats are booked solid very quickly. It is price that high partly due to high demand. If it is priced at $500, all the seats will be taken within minutes. I hope Apple will follow last WWDC by releasing the session videos free into iTunes U after the event.
Congratulation! Better look. Under Links->Erlang applications and projects, please consider to include Erlang apps such as Riak, RabbitMQ, CouchDB, ejabberd, Mochiweb, Webmachine and Zotonic.
People have been driving for web interface to rule them all for more than 10 years now. It will never happen in our life time. Those asking for web interface are mainly driving from tech management point of view, one development and interface for all devices and platforms. But consumers don't care and that's why the past few years we see the rise of native mobile interfaces. I see a future where native interface continues to rule, where the web is more the backend glues and data that network all together. Web interface might take a back seat when new generations user interface becomes standard. Touch has just become the standard, imagine a future with kinect like or advanced voice interface. Native interface on purpose build interface devices will have the opportunity to progress and advance the way we interface with the net and computer.
Sounds promising with the ability to separate family with friends. And Google Circles is better name than Google Me! Let's hope its viable alternative to FB.
I wonder if the author actually own a first generation iPad. 16GB is enough if you have only one screenful of apps and games. 16GB is definitely not enough if you ever play games such as Infinity Blade (850M), Fifa 11 (1.2G), Real Racing 2 etc. And even GarageBand is over 400M. How about your mp3? movie files and ebooks? 32GB is more adequate.
And iPad 3 will be March 2012. It is too soon. iPad 2 might not even complete its worldwide launch by fall. The Fall rumour most likely is a 6 inch iPod touch launching in September iPod event.
Facebook will then sing it big together with Bing, which might work towards Bing's advantage. I can see in a future Bing and Facebook eating more and more into Google's advertising dollar. Which can only be good as in competition is good.
I'm not sure why an article to rant about a common marketing practice? Earnings call bashing Android, Google IO attacks Apple, so on and on. Is Steve reaching the status of a saint and not allow to bash?
Apple's side: Imagine most popular newspapers and magazines sites use Google One Pass to collect subscriptions fees via website, and offer free iOS app to consume the content. Apple collects nothing. I'm not totally with Apple but they have their points.
* Apple will keep April as the refresh month for iPad. Putting iPad in the same iPod event will steal thunder and is no good. And component supplies is tighter for iPad thus it takes few months to meet the demand and September is too tight to the holidays season. When iPad 2 is launched in April, the rest of the world will get it by Jun-Aug which ensure Apple can manufacture enough to meet year end holiday demand.
* There will be no iOS 5 this year. At June WWDC, Lion will be the focus and Apple will give sneak peak of iOS 5 at the event, with beta available in early 2012, ship in June 2012. Aple needs to get its developers ready and it takes time. iOS 5 will share the code base of Lion and will ship after Lion. iOS 5 will include user interface elements changes. I think Apple is keeping two years release cycle for major OS release.
* There will be iOS 4.4/4.5 this year for: iPhone 5, NFC capability, AppleTV 3, App Store for AppleTV and App/Games on AppleTV.
HN News lacks two features that are predominant in social network site: follow people and like postings. I would not call HN News social networking. I'm hoping HN News can add like/favorite feature so that I can bookmarked posts/discussion right within HN News.
