I know some people who own desktop a PC but don't ever turn it on because they have smart-phones. The only time they do is to print something or occasional Excel and even that is slow as hell on ancient Celeron running W10 with Norton, Avast and Windows defender plus some Adobe crap taking up all resources. It's also a fire hazard full of dust bunnies and sounds like an aeroplane.
I've been treating Windows as malware for many years now. This is what happens when people who cared about spying allready moved on from Windows, current users will continue to accept any crap no matter what. It's no longer "Your PC" it's "This PC".
And petty criminals that set up fake fake websites to steal your money, ad-networks are also commonly used to spread malware so limiting the number of attack surfaces is the only sane thing to do.
Speaking from experience, it's not only ID systems but if you run non-Android (some AOSP) they might still require you to install an App only available with Play Services or on iOS to do business with government agencies or even apply for funds in some European states. In other words if you are using GrapheneOS, from gov. agencies point of view you might as well be a criminal. Actually given how frequent ID-theft is nowadays, it's actually easier for criminals to launder their money than privacy preserving individuals or companies to pay taxes in EEA.
I have one Nvdia system where it's locked to their drivers in BIOS meaning I can't use AMD. Now Ubuntu has dropped support for old GeForce it's essentially a brick, thanks Nvidia and Canonical.
