There is a huge backlash coming when the general public learns AI is plagued with errors and hallucinations. Companies are out there straight up selling snake oil to them right now.
Sorry, I’m not sure why it was off topic or clickbait. Can you explain? Should I have added WHY I think it’s bad as well? I honestly thought it was self evident but again, I’m neurodivergent.
I’m mostly concerned for the integrity of YC if this is what he’s pushing. If he’s so sensitive to politics then I’m not sure why he’s putting political content out there and using his authority to push it. Seems like he wants an echo chamber which is concerning for someone in his position.
ChatGPT gives me garbage code unless I ask it politely not to. No joke. Usually the first attempt is pure garbage and I have to call it out as such and then it’s like, “you’re right! Here’s the updated code”. No idea why it can basically never get it right the first time. I also find that it can be quite redundant and offer two distinct solutions morphed into one mutant answer which will turn the undiscerning 1x developer into a -10x developer. But hey, it still saves me time. Sometimes..
This is a description of a poorly run process and lack of product management. Clients will ask for dumb stuff regardless if it’s a building or piece of software. It’s our job to educate and guide. If a client is un-guidable, then fire them!
TBH I’ve smoked weed everyday all day long for over 20 years. Maybe that’s how I’ve gotten by but I’m wondering if there is a better and healthier alternative.
It just takes a lot out of me physically, emotionally and mentally. Wondering if I need to be spending that much of myself. I feel like I work twice as hard as everyone else.
I dropped out with only a few classes left because I couldn’t take it. It did start my entrepreneurship career but dang, I would have liked to have that degree.
I don’t want to go into too much detail but I’ve used substances of all kinds my whole life. That’s partially what drives my question here. I don’t want to do that anymore as I think my health is being effected.
Usually when I assess code as over complicated it is because the engineer is solving the problem indirectly. Very often I see people focus on the perceived constraints of a problem instead of solving the actual problem. These same people often get married to their approach and resist other ways because they have already invested so much time in their current approach. We never know less than we know today and to not change your approach based on new information will undoubtedly result in spaghetti code, I mean “over engineered code”.
It’s incredible how simple things can be if you think about them creatively enough.
The thing about free speech is that it doesn’t shield you from the social repercussions of what you say. The comments on the linked site are hilarious. A bunch of people complaining about how their feelings got hurt because people think they’re racist. Gold.
