Same. And I recommend the audio book over the print. The format of presentation in the audio book and hearing Eckhart himself talk makes a big difference.
The few microservices we've built so far have been good at taking some load off of the monolith and its database, as well as at making sure that if the micro service goes down, only a small part of the customer facing app will be affected. The monolith and majority of the app would continue to function.
Thank you for sharing your experience. It is encouraging to read about others in our field coping, and coping well with Parkinson's. Moving to more managerial type positions does seem like a good idea.
You are getting psds of iphone's own user interface...so that you can then put the mock up of your application inside it for say client presentation or to see how your app's design looks on the iPhone or to see if your app's design meshes well with iphone's aesthetics.
what if Uber/Lyft etc let you lend your car to drivers? So instead of sitting in the parking lot, an uber driver could be driving it. Uber/Lyft could background check the drivers. I wonder if it will be worthwhile for them to provide insurance against theft. The driver would also need to be added to your personal insurance I guess....the insurance companies might eventually come up with plans specific for this type of scenarios.
Nah, it means 'nothing'. :-( But I am looking to learn React + Flux. I am a frontend noob, mostly because the spider web of JS and CSS code (plus the tens of JS frameworks to choose from) ultimately drives me nuts. But, React and Flux seem to be less spider-web-y and appeal to a backend developer like me.
When we sleep, our brains process the events of the day and pick out things to stow away in our long term memory.
Maybe as a side-effect of this processing, they also aid problem solving - after a good night's sleep, you are able to find solutions to the previous day's problems faster (than you would, if you hadn't had the sleep).
As we sleep, our brains clear away toxins that accumulate during our awake time. These toxins may be culprits behind neuro degenerative diseases.
There seems to be a correlation between sleep deprivation and cardiovascular diseases.
I don't worry about the number of lines of code. I do worry about lack of clarity, readability, maintainability, clear flows of events. Unfortunately, hacked together fragile code that produces desired effect (as the article mentions) has been the norm at every place I have worked at. A serious source of job dissatisfaction.
"Moreover, during a tough self-control task, circulating glucose levels plummet, consumed by hardworking frontal neurons. And, remarkably, self-control improves if subjects sip sugary drinks during the task (with control subjects consuming sugar-free drinks)."
Then is controlling urge to sip sugary drinks a doomed enterprise?
