Really cool! On iOS there's a noticeable delay when clicking the buttons and clicking the backspace button quickly zooms the page so it's very hard to use. Would love it in mobile friendly form!
I tried https://www.freetaxusa.com this year since I dislike Intuit so much for their lobbying. The site works very well and has a pretty similar flow to TurboTax except no auto import of financial account info.
I'm not sure the trustworthiness of the company/site. I didn't see any red flags in the privacy policy but would love to hear from others if they've used this.
YouTube increased the efficiency of their site which ended up increasing average page load time - more people across the globe could now use the site when before it was too slow to bother with.
Very cool results. Seems like with some extra human intervention this would produce very good results.

I just saw the front page post about automatically colorizing photos (https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=10864801) and thought I should share this website I built a couple years ago. It allows grabbing color from a reference photo and painting it onto the black and white image you wish to color. It was a fun learning experience and can make some pretty convincing photos with a bit of patience.
I'm glad to hear they are forcing updates now. A family member's computer had some extension/malware that disabled auto update of Chrome so they were several versions behind. It seems like this policy is there to prevent malware from being able to lock down Chrome.
It's the other way around. ES6 needs to support loading ES5 content. They can't make 'generator' a keyword because it was a perfectly fine variable name in ES5.
I just signed up for the 101 course which covers finding your customer and so far it seems informative and well done. Note you have to pay a $50 verification fee and pass the class (> 50% score) if you want the $1000 credit. If you just want to take the class, it is free.
That's neat, generally I like physical books better but that really shows the potential of ebooks. I've been working on something similar for the JavaScript/browser APIs (http://www.javascripture.com) since I learn a lot better when running code myself.
I think he used something like z = c * dy since earlier in the post he mentioned the photos were from a similar direction but different elevations. He compared this to your how your eyes compute distance but in this case the difference is vertical.
And don't forget "In this case because the precise location and elevation of the photographers isn't known this is slightly more art than science, but it is still fun!"
The lighting discharge happens very quickly (a few microseconds [1]) so it's unlikely you'll get the same shifting you see in that video. The exposure time of the camera in that dim light was probably much longer than the time of the lightning discharge.
