Here's my biggest secret. I almost always use Chome's URL address bar as a text buffer. Not only to make sure what I copied is what I expected, but to remove new-lines, and if it's a terminal command, to allow me to edit the arguments in free-form before pasting into terminal.
I think you ARE missing the point. Watching the bytes come over the wire isn't something that they are trying to protect. Just easy cheating in the classroom. They probably received some complains from teachers.
They wanted to keep it working offline, and hints should still be available for students in areas with spotty internet.
It's not Khan Academy responsibility to ensure students don't cheat after all. I mean for all they know the students could have other browsers/computers open.
Why does it matter? I'm tired of seeing people link other discussions. If it's a live active discussion, thats one thing, but a dead discussion from yesterday?....
I think it's more of a case that Yelp paid them to find something and they don't want to turn around and say 'Hey thanks for the money, we didn't find anything' so they stitched this accusation up.
Very cool project. A lot of people active already playing along. Would be nice if we could PM one another that to start a one-on-one convo with someone in a place we're interested in.
I'm seeing a disconnect alright, but it's from the article and your comment. In no way did I interpret that article as saying "the 4-day work week doesn't work."
Although, if you're working on the 5th day, it's not really a four day work week. My Fridays at my regular job are almost as relaxed.

They stopped the redirect[1] and now just show a link to Google Hong Kong.
They also removed the warning that the user's search results were being filtered [2].
To the best of my knowledge, the current status:
User visits Google China - http://google.cn
- This is a hyperlink to Google Hong Kong on the front page
- IF user searches via Google.cn, the search results will be filtered by China not self-censored by Google. They will NOT be presented with a warning anymore.
- IF user searches via Google.hk, from mainland china, the same thing will happen and the results will still be filtered. [3]
At this point, I don't believe the link to .hk Google serves as much use as it does a political statement.
