If you're from other country then spread your cash in different currencies or buy universal currency (Gold / Silver).
Try to gain multiple skills so that when it hits your job you can take-up something else with the help of your new skills.
BE A GLOBAL CITIZEN; YOU SHOULD BE READY TO MOVE WHEREVER IS THE JOB OPPORTUNITY.
friends, sorry, and you may downgrade my karma point but let me tell you that i dont find any thing new or creative in this - this idea (cooking service) is been used from ages - especially within south-asian community.... there are thousands and thousands of people who get healthy cocked food delivered at the price you cannot imagine - saving time, money and energy. same is possible with laundry, there are people who will pick-up your laundry and get it back to you all washed and ironed.
it is extra-ordinarily inexpensive to start a startup in India - what it requires is seed funding - most of the time VCs don't fit the bill - funding from firms like Y-Combinator / Union Square venture will be more viable and profitable.
Right now copycats are more visible but with some effort and due diligence indian startups will take a center-stage in next five years.... with couple of hundred thousand dollars you can build world class teams working on multiple products, services and technologies. Its a red-hot market for angels and seed-funding cos.
this may change the whole industry - Apple TV will have hard time to sell a separate box - unless they built in any extra feature such as games, DVD player, storage drive etc.
the cost is less but are you from India?, if not then you may have tough time to get things done quickly - its better to know someone down there (a co-founder may be) - also the culture and social structure is way different than SV - so you may take time to get used to it ... may be i can help you more if you can post your email address ...GOOD LUCK
some are good initiator but not the operator for the rest of the life ... also people who have tons of ideas are driven by bringing does ideas in to reality ... they love being a king-maker rather than being a king for only one kingdom and run the show (thats boring for them) - they like to have more than one kingdom and then find someone to run with it.... i think pg himself is the right example for this.
it depends upon whether or not you're expecting your livelihood from your ideas ... if you are making money from other sources then you must go with an idea that makes you passionate and has a huge market.
Passion will keep you going and huge market will make you some money (one day) if your product is good - and your product will be definitely good if you're passionate about it, it may take little longer though.
