The bottom line, in the interview process you need to adapt to the people you are talking to.
The possible pitfalls are endless for both the interviewer and the interviewee.
And sometimes the interviewer will bomb the interview more than you. You don't see people often write about making sure the person doing the interview is any good at it.
Getting good people is really important. Possibly one of the most important things you can do for a business.
Seems like a cop out to me. It kind of says, our technology can't weed these results out so we are just going to not deal with it. I am sure it is difficult problem; don't get me wrong. However, I'd rather see Google say that some fancy algorithm determined co.cc domains are junk and has relegated them appropriately.
@emmett I am disappointed by your comment. Xenophobia? Really? I am merely hoping for consumer and corporate accountability. I am using decades of observation that have brought me to a completely rational conclusion. I suspect you are reading things between the lines from my statement that aren't there. Stereotyping? Yes I grouped people together. And Yes I made a statement about that group. Trying to denigrate my point because of this is I hope seen as it should be, a superficial criticism.
We all support the Chinese way every time we buy a product made in China. A business supports these methods every time they sign a contract with a company that produces its goods in China. It's implicit. I am not sure how you can feign having your head in the sand. Apple is absolutely part of the problem. We are absolutely part of the problem. Yes, even myself. To say otherwise is foolish. Apple should hold Foxconn to high standards not only in protecting its secrets but how to properly treat human beings.
Some interesting and good ideas. However, I don't think there is a recipe for finding good software engineers. If you always use the same method you're going to end up with a team of people with the same strengths. Know your teams strengths and weaknesses and find candidates that balance things out.
I predict you'll see a convergence here similar to Smartphones and GPS. Only it will be netbooks and ebook readers. Look up the LCD design company Pixel Qi.
Huh? Are you serious? The cellphone is the new PC. Let me run whatever applications I want on my computer. Can you imagine in Microsoft said you can only buy software for your computer via our App Store and oh we are going to take a cut of all Windows software.
I am excited to see a device using one of these screens. It's the beginning of a needed evolution of a fundamental aspect of many peoples live; staring at the glowing screen.
Nice points. I like using mind mapping to stay focused. I am currently using mindmeister.com to mind map. I will be adding some of the things in this article to my mind map.
I'm not familiar with Michael Silver or Neil MacDonald but wow, I hope this isn't a case of prediction being any kind of catalyst. These guys probably get high off the smell of their farts.
