To make a meathead analogy: you all know the people in the gym who apply the strategy of least resistance by taking shortcuts, skipping the hard parts or following some hype new training regimen while forgetting about the fundamentals. None of those people look like they lift and a lot of them remain in the same shape their entire life.
Same with AI. if you use it to skip all the hard parts you will not grow and mature and waste your potential.
As long as these tools remain for your personal use there is nothing wrong with that. The moment other people rely on them however, it would become reckless oversight to operate in that way.
Yeah anthropic essentially saying "just trust the agent bro" is the exact opposite a sane engineer with respect for their own craft should be doing.
Then add on the fact that their guardrails now block blue teams, purple teams, red teams and some people in biology and medicine from even getting answers.

I'd much rather have open standards to follow instead of relying on vendor lock in and features automatically enforced by one company, which are not supported by others.
A good example is the agent skills open standard which was invented by anthropic but given to the public and is followed by other vendors as well

Yeah I'm not going to be doing that. I'd rather manage context myself and carefully handcraft the instructions than to rely on your marketing to tell me what I should be doing.
Review fatigue is already draining my energy levels at work to a point where I've been using agents less because it's just not possible to be productive when I have to read hundreds of lines of markdown every couple minutes.
Other people might just turn to automation blindness and click OK without verifying but I refuse to just let anthropic go rampant in my codebase.
So as a relatively fresh Fedora user (2024) who just sold their Windows PC (2025) and is in love with the OS, where would be a good place to look for areas to contribute in? Is there a place where Fedora maintainers write down what parts of the pipeline are in need of volunteers?
It just doesn't make sense to me that Opus 5 costs the exact same as Opus 4.8, my bet is that they simply subsidize Opus 5 more comparatively so it still looks as if they are making significant progress to keep investment dollars flowing, further inflating the bubble. I might be completely wrong but I trust nothing their CEO says, he's a habitual doom troll and will say whatever makes marketing sense.
Also most people building these things are engineers and coders, what they know best is code. So naturally this aspect develops at an elevated speed. Getting non-tech experts to build a cutting edge tech product does not sound intuitively feasible.
Yeah hard to imagine why people would object to rising electricity and gas bills, negative environmental impact on their area for the privilege of ultimately losing their job.
I commend you for burning 6 figure losses into Anthropic thanks to their subsidies singlehandedly but I am curious to learn what you've built with this so far, not to be snarky, I just wonder what people actually produce while having these run nonstop.
Your approach seems sensible. Especially the part about discussing concepts to gain understanding instead of having output generated for you to avoid having to think.
Unfortunately, most people are interested in shortcuts and thinking less and will ultimately deteriorate in their abilities the more they abuse these tools to skip the learning process.
Yeah I feel the same. That's why I've canceled my claude subscription and code everything by hand again, because building skill and mastery in a craft is fun and rewarding. Having a machine do it for me is neither. Fortunately coding is my hobby so there is zero pressure to optimize it.
At my workplace management is pushing AI, so I am using it in order to establish sensible and thoughtful applications of it and in order to know when to call out colleagues for pushing mindless automation out of complacency or blind obedience.
This is mostly a marketing spin to avoid going bankrupt just a little longer.

LG hardware laying dormant for sometimes 3 years, then installing software through backchannels silently to record your voice continuously (if the monitor has a microphone, which some models do) and taking screenshots of your monitor content every 500ms, uploaded to their servers and likely shared with data brokers and the government qualifies as malware in my book.
