Large groups of people all contributing small amounts towards a goal none of them could accomplish on their own is the only way any of those things ever get done.
I could be wrong but my understanding is that 24/7 dedicated servers are wildly economically unviable. The reason cloud tends to cost less than local today (other than the subsidization) is because you aren't running models 24/7. So like 6 hours of cloud per weekday might beat the yearly cost of building local machines, but it's not in the same universe if you're running 24/7, as evidenced by two months of H200 rental costing more than the DGX Spark this Laptop is built out of.
Except that's the point. It is the same store. It is two different cashiers. The second one doesn't know you got the ID from the first one, that's why it works. The point is that if a store like that existed, it would be stupid as fuck.
Also, at least in ChatGPT, it has access to every other session, so you're never working with zero context unless you create a new account (and even then they could have other fingerprinting, I just haven't tested it).
Uber lost all of the money all of the original investors gave them, and sold that bag of dog shit to the public. Everyone who bought the IPO lost money.
Amazon was founded in 1994 and turned their first profit in 2001. A better example would be Uber, which ran negative until they had less than one year of runway remaining and then were somehow allowed to scam pedestrians into keeping their unprofitable taxi business solvent.
The way it’s supposed to work is that the government sells bonds and the money goes away. Much like your original premise, it doesn’t much make sense that people think modern monetary policy only thought up quantitative easing and not quantitative tightening.
Can’t speak to how it will end up working, but its definitely not a surprise.
This is something I love about watching business / finance news channels. Everyone is trying as hard as they can not to lie because it's illegal in their context.
I’d go even further: I hope it keeps falling until a better crypto currency is worth more. Bitcoin even existing proves the market is more speculative than functional.
Well no, every system requires people with power to be generally good. No system survives with only bad actors. You’re incorrectly assuming a generous billionaire isn’t a feature of capitalism / democracy.
But they all used to, which means functionally the only difference is now there isn't a link so I have to make an additional request, in a new tab, directly to Wikipedia for more information (Demographics, Economics, Government, etc).
If I Google "Malta" there is a paragraph on the right and no link to Wikipedia. This also happens in Google Maps, when you click on a city and they have the blurb, much of the time there is no link, so you have to leave the page to Wikipedia the name of the city.
Actually having just tried a few different queries, it seems to be inconsistent. I'm not sure why they'd show the link sometimes and not every time, but definitely Malta doesn't show a link for me.
If everything that you know about the world fits in a 2km radius around your house, you aren't doing anything.
