This is exactly what VMware Horizon VDI does to create desktop VMs very quickly, called Instant Clone (aka VM Fork), and has been around for several years now.
With that, you don't even need to do deduplication after the fact, it comes for free. When a new VM is forked, it's memory and disk are copy-on-write from the source/parent VM.

You absolutely can. I am not sure what tech Microsoft is using, but a similar experience can be had with VMware Horizon VDI product with something called Instant Clone, which is essentially forking an already booted up Desktop VM. On each esxi hypervisor host, you would have one of these parent/seed VMs that is booted up and ready in a frozen state, and when a new desktop VM is needed, it's created from the seed/parent using copy-on-write memory/disk and runtime state less than a second.

What differentiates this from k3s? Seems like there's a lot of overlap. Would be great if there was a quick summary of why someone would use this instead of k3s/microk8s/minikube/etc.

A bit surprised to see no support for DPDK. While using AF_PACKET makes the project a bit more portable, you'll be able to save a lot of cycles by using skipping the kernel all together.
Odd, I've had the exact opposite reaction. I will say from a functional point of view, it's excellent and feature packed. But from an aesthetic and consistency point of view, it still has a long way to go.
For example, it's as if there are actually 4 different UI's that share almost nothing [instrument cluster ui, center console ui, google maps ui, garmin ui (yes, there are two different navs)], each of which has it's own set of controls with a unique style.
That said, it's a great start (given they're such a new company and the ui is designed from scratch), and I'm excited to see what they'll have in store in the future.

You're right in that it's about experience and not about the money, BUT if it's a tech company that can't properly compensate, it should be a big red light.
All the internships I've done and folks I knew in CS/CE/EE, I don't recall anyone having an unpaid internship.
Another +1 for mongoose, it's great for adding a quick web interface to a c/c++ program quickly (ie. status or quick admin interface)... but I wouldn't use it as a web-framework for serving multiple users or to the public on the web though.
Is there any evidence that customers/clients want or like to view the full screen version? Everyone I've asked as well as my self find it annoying (specially the welcome screen directly going in to full screen, along with playing music automatically).
That's assuming the same algorithm is used throughout.
You can use one algorithm to encrypt/decrypt the original content. But you can use a different algorithm (with a different key) that would output a different output.
The secondary algorithm would be one that given a some text (ciphertext from the original encryption) along with the desired output, would return a suitable key. The most basic example to prove the point would be XOR.
