I started playing with hardware manufacturing, as I think there is value into getting specific devices for listening to music, taking notes, etc. Using a smartphone is like opening up a candy box, and kills much of the joy and appreciation for what we do on it. My first project is a music player. Making my first prototype with a 3d printer.
I followed the same journey but was unimpressed by Rails attempt at modernization with Hotwire. Decided to give Elixir + Phoenix a try and immediately fell in love. Just like I had with rails years ago. I highly recommend people to check it out, liveview is a game changer for building modern web apps without the complexity of JS, and without the baggage of using Rails to do it. And performance is mind blowing.
Simplest thing I could come up with:
Marketing is the message that describes your product (copywriting, branding, positioning) + the distribution channels to spread it to the right people (SEO, social media, ads, etc.)
1. to get paid on twitter you need to subscribe to the $8/mo checkmark
2. most people currently subscribed are musk fans (likely right wing)
Consequence: most people who get paid today are right-wing. But if big accounts from the left came back and subscribed to the $8/mo checkmark, they would get paid too.
This is not factual. I pay for twitter blue and don't follow elon musk. I even muted him + associated topic some time ago. I still got the blue checkmark. Even the data you link to shows that 10/29 people who got paid don't follow elon musk. However it makes sense that a majority does since a lot of blue subsribers do so because they like and trust him.
I’ve seen a study showing that people who run a lot may actually live shorter than people who just do moderate exercise. Extreme exercise could be as bad as no exercise at all.
As a content creator, the fear of being randomly banned / blacklisted by the platform I use is all too real. It happened to a friend of mine with a decent sized YouTube channel for 0 legitimate reason.
Carlson picked the twitter platform not because it’s the best tool to host a show (YouTube or twitch would be better), but because it’s the place least likely to ban him.
That might be the beginning of a new MOAT for twitter, if they survive long enough to make something from it. And politics aside could be beneficial to everyone.
I don’t know why everybody trusts government bodies to act fast and delegate authority as needed when it’s clearly not how things happen in the real world. The nature of government is to be slow, safe and long-term, not enable technological disruption.
For example the cookie law has made most websites significantly less enjoyable and everybody hates it and yet it has been stuck for years, no hope of improvement in sight.
I grew up with video games and believed it would be a young people’s thing forever.
But now when I talk to young people, many of them don’t play or even know many games, and would rather just watch Netflix or YouTube.
However friends of my own age still play games.
So maybe video games isn’t actually a thing for young people, but simply a thing for people who were born in the 80-90s.
Just like rock’n’roll music. We used to think it was evergreen music for teens… But overtime realized it was simply for people born in the 40s-50s. And now it’s an old people’s thing.
I never understood why this law became so important either. what’s so bad of having 2-3 different type of ports? If your senator / deputy has time to spend working on such laws then maybe they need to rethink their career choice.
Doesn't that make her slower? Youtube has better quality results most of the time, but it takes so long to watch the video and get to the information I want... I always start with a google search for that reason.
