and thats the rub... in generic enterprise land everyone has there own ES cluster multiregion to support 100GB of data and 50 rds dbs that could run one instance... what even is a DBA in today's world?
What if Microsoft buys it for there devtools business like NPM, Github, VSCode + Terraform,Consul,Vault.. all just more gateways into azure but like all the others they own allow you to use it how you want opensource.
The merger of these threads really takes away the scope of the announcements made and the different discussions being had. The editorializing and changing of URL really alters the environment for conversation in a way that's not healthy and hurts the scope of these things. Then the second highest comment on the thread becomes about the design layout on the page.

Universal search (once a part of Android) has long been stripped out due to patent issues with Apple.
The app permissions system on Android is all or nothing. Which I think would benefit from a more rigorous approval process. All the access is disclosed though before install.

In fact no matter which way they rule in Aereo's case we are screwed. If they rule in favor of Aereo the content companies (Comcast owns NBC) will just start taking content "cable only".
I don't think they compete directly in vast majority of markets and for this to go through they will surely forfeit those smaller contested ones.
I think this will go through. Then they will have a huge "content and subscriber" stick to wave around at Aereo, Netflix, Apple and anyone else wanting to play the net content hero.
