The same cookie-cutter website with Login and Pricing pages. The images of the celebrities look like horror movies, which is different from other sites.
Good luck on your next web site because you'll shut down this one in 2 months.
Pretty famous stuff, I'm surprised someone doesn't know this.
> You take a picture of a menu
Can't you just use Google to look up the words? Or ask the waiter? I may be too old I guess, but is there really a demand for that? Creating a JS monstrosity that spits out fake pictures of food (IF you have paid for a subscription) seems to be a niche topic.
My uninformed opinion is that this post is not interesting (AI is boring but that's another subject), it's a politics article, and Hacker News has the word hacker in its title which is why I expect some technical stuff.
And yes, it applies to every other post, I believe HN has way too much politics and societal content.
> international tensions based on tech policy are an interesting phenomenon
We had that forever, for example in the 90s with cryptography. It was way more scary at the time, but still not on topic for such a forum.
> Maybe take a break from work for a while - you must not enjoy it.
I do absolutely enjoy my new job with a manager that trusts me. I have a lot more responsibilities and it's a lot of pride and fun. I don't enjoy working with abusers though, you're right.
OTOH, I remember all the toxic managers (along with the HR, CEO, and other spineless people) who told me to chill out after having verbally abused people. A bit like the wife beater who says his wife is complaining all the time. I suspected you were one of those guys and your answer confirms it.
> How dare a CEO ask employees to use their own product inside a company
That's the job of each employee, CTO, and architects, together. Not the CEO. The CEO shouldn't make technical decisions like that. That's restricted to technical people who you are supposed to trust, the trust which you seem to lack.
Harassing employees with specific tools that may not be appropriate while crippling their autonomy and knowledge? I know that kind of boss. It's the kind of job that I quit because it becomes toxic very quickly.
> my daughter had a birthday. I gave Dall-e the following prompt [...] Today, here is what I get with the same prompt in o4
He gave his child a generic Pixar-style image to show his love. Good boy, everyone can do that though. I understand that he doesn't give a fuck about his employees and his daughter. What kind of moral story are we supposed to get from that?
My answer may be harsh but I've experienced that over the years: the "perfect dad" (where the family knows nothing about it) that is making his employees quit or cry in front of everyone. I don't personally know the guy, but it gives me very bad "vibes" (haha /s) and bad memories that I don't want to experience again.
It's broken because it makes no sound on my computer. Oh sorry, it's because I have the sound disabled by default and Flash-websites who make sound have been annoying for more than 20 years.
I've been a incel for a short while and know everything about alcohol. Both issues are identical: why would I give up beer when there is no alternative? Same thing for porn.
(I'm not judging you but) It's easy for you to say when you have the real thing. And that's why our societies have failed for a lot of people, and why we now must handle porn the same way we are handling drug problems.
For the GP: "escape the clutches of porn" when it's the only alternative to suicide due to lack of social contact? You end up with incels who would do anything to have a way to be a part of society, and most of the time it's in a bad way.
Been there done that, our society has changed in the wrong way and I don't think we're blaming the right guys. "Helping them to see the humanity and personhood of women again" is misled. The issue is that some people have no human contact with men or women at all. No male parental figure which is more important and impacting than the contact with the other sex, even in a social context. Focusing on porn and women is useless in that context (since I suspect OP is talking about, well, porn and incels and the whole bro thing).
TL;DR: try to solve real problems because doing everything at once never ends well. Also post-it notes.
No, I'll be honest, feel free to ignore what I wrote:
- It's a vercel.app subdomain, not a real product and domain names are cheap nowadays, why don't you have one yet?
- The front page is blank without JS, fix your code!
- As a semi-privacy-conscious guy, how can you do this without being invasive? Or is it yet another TODO list to track a specific kind of item? Don't we already have a billion web sites like that? What about post-it notes?
- "recurring expenses—personal, business": personal? why another subscription when I can do this with a post-it note, business? they should have a team for that or an Excel spreadsheet
- "Why It Will Save You money and time": your pros and cons are showing you want to help people who are not organized, but they need a real budget (https://actualbudget.org/), not yet another subscription that they will forget. Also I'm a regular guy with a regular life, and I have at most 20 "subscriptions" which can be reduced to 5 if you remove all the taxes and regular bills like electricity. Why are you better than a post-it note with 5 entries?
- the whole site screams "yet another SaaS," maybe I should use your product to keep track of all my Ghibli generators and music generators and Britney Spears generators, and all those failed SaaS that did one task badly once
- Last but not least, your HN profile shows that you already created 5 different sites like this one, who says you won't abandon this one like the others? E.g. your moodwatch thing tells me to watch "Игант" without any link and a "failed to load video" error message, don't you want to fix this before?
Absolutely off-topic but I have a few friends from Argentina and they are the most positive and inspiring people I have met so far. Those guys are smiling and being happy for free. That's a country where I would move in if I had to change.
I haven't got a clue since I have never used any benchmark tool in my whole life. Could you tell us in which professional context you would use that kind of tool?
> Media has always been a core part of Reddit’s user experience and infrastructure
We know that reddit was a forum whose main purpose was to be an alternative to digg, there is no need to rewrite history. They could be honest and say that they want more money instead. Anyway, redditors won't leave as we've seen in the past which means that they have guaranteed eyeballs.
I wish good luck to their comment-editing CEO and their future slop machine. It will be a funny thing to watch on such a large scale.
