My uni in Poland - CS and software engineering were basically the same things when it comes to Math classes, the difference was mostly in programming classes (we at software engineering had more project based classes and they had a lot of smaller ones)
Cynically it feels to me like it's just a nice way for the companies nearby to get free labor.
My assumption for that is just that it's just supposed to be an internship somewhere where our focus would be to study and thus we shouldn't get any benefits from it, but I've never heard of it working that way. It was always in IT here just being an unpaid junior.

What if your parents earn they much but don't want to pay for college for whatever reason, let's say just not getting together? Why be punished for what is not your fault? (Okay, in this case it could be if you're the reason parents don't want to talk to you, but you get the case)
