genius is based in New York I think, and so is John Resig (at least at lot of the time, he attends JS meetups in New York). He's probably doing them a favor, although the founders of genius are rather obnoxious and John's just the opposite, so it's not whom I'd expect him to help out. Maybe he's going for funding from Horowitz, who also funds genius

if the article presents a different answer than what's already known, through snowden statements communicated to laura poitras and greenwald, then they're probably not true, and if it repeats the same stuff, this is obviously a stupid question to ask and the article's just marketing b.s.
It does seem like any app that could be made with Ember could also be made with Backbone. So, yes, why use a 20,000 line library when you could get away with 800.
