Migrations like this don't happen often, and being on-site would be common when you are running in a physical data center rather than the cloud. When we switched backend DB systems we did it from home.
Amazon S3 now supports server side encryption with customer-provided keys (SSE-C), a new encryption option for Amazon S3. When using SSE-C, Amazon S3 encrypts your objects with the custom encryption keys that you provide. Since Amazon S3 performs the encryption for you, you get the benefits of using your encryption keys without the cost of writing or executing your own encryption code.
Don't almost all web servers/browsers use SNI now? I don't see why you'd need multiple IPs for running multiple SSL sites nowadays. I have done multiple SSL sites on one IP for years.
But probably costs next to nothing in terms of time. Look at all the companies we're discussing just in this thread. Why does everything have to be only in terms of revenue?
In some ways Newegg is like the Best Buy paradigm for me (try things out at Best Buy, purchase on Amazon). Newegg always has better technical details and specs than Amazon but Amazon usually has better prices + Prime. I hope this works out well for the Egg
I wonder how well their marketplace is doing? The selection seems poor and almost random, like a flea market. I never think to check Newegg for things other than computer parts and I almost always end up ordering on amazon because I have Prime. I guess this may change that.
