Can't think a possible reason... it just doesn't compute. Atheism and Agnosticism are not a belief but a lack of one because of rational reasons. What kind of possible quarrel between these two?
The article is a rather obvious satirical piece.
It would be 'funny cuz it's true' only if atheists were not responsible for the greatest amount of death in the 20th century (ie Communists of various shades in Russia & China).
Also people whose name was not Adolf were responsible for the greatest amount of death.
Men, as a group, are also responsible for the "greatest amount of death" in the 20th century. Just letting you know in case you ever decide to make a joke about men.

On the other hand, one could make a case that communists were not 'true' atheists - they just replaced Jesus with Marx-Lenin-Mao, but ostensibly they espoused atheism.

I admit I believed the headline. Somewhat amusing article, but I can't see this doing well on HN.
