I'm not a Git user, nor have I looked much at its code, so I don't really know why it's so fast.
I think this tells it all, he hasn't even used Git and he is discussing why it is fast !!
I think one should atleast use it to find out if what people are going around saying is true atleast.

Agreed. This is an article full of suppositions with little practical value.
Sorry, it's part of a series and previous entries have been posted on HN. In that context, its a little more interesting, but reading again you're right, I shouldn't have posted it.
Also the question, without any context, isn't even interesting anyhow. Everybody already knows that git is mighty fast and the reason is simply because Linus made that a priority.
A technical discussion of how he achieved it - that would have been worthwhile.
