Agreed, teen-orientated generally meant teen-avoided to me.
Yeah, but it's more the pop monoculture that irks me. I wish people would explore the arts more, so that it's people sharing what they have discovered than having something common to talk about (assuming that's why we have pop culture). At least it's still social, that way.
I was the same way. I'd have been much more interested in attending a real tech event (CES, perhaps), than something called "Teens in Tech." That said, it could be a good event, I really know nothing about it.
Kids generally want to be treated like adults (or at least think they do).
Teens have been in tech for a long time. I'd bet a lot of us here were techy teens half a lifetime ago. Or less. Or maybe some of us still are.
I'm used to teens in tech, but not used to teens who take Macbook Air payments in exchange for Tech Crunch articles. cough cough, Daniel Brusilovsky.
The demand for bribes is one thing... I can get over that. But a teen already using passive-voice apologies, ala "a line was crossed," now that I can't abide!
Anyone else feel the same way?
