I felt like the system that’s in the portal from Facebook would be the ideal vc setup for my parents (i.e. video calling on a tv). Though, there’s no way I’d want to put a camera from Facebook in my parents house. I did try Google duo (I guess it’s call meet now?) with a Google tv, but since it was with a 3rd party web cam, things like autofocus didn’t work as well as I’d like.
You can always boot from your mbp? Treat it like an external bootable storage system. Yes you won’t be able to use the display on the laptop, but you will be able to run your applications on the iMac. (Assuming that matters more? For me it does. I can’t stand how slow docker is on my mbp, pretty much puts my cpu to 100% and has the fans running at full speed)
Maybe I'm being too picky? Or a maybe I'm just in the minority, bit I don't really like using Sonic. I mean, their internet works, and customer support is fine (but I've had as good a service from Comcast too).
What I find annoying from Sonic is their billing process. I dislike that they foist a random router onto you and charge you $10 a month (and charge you if you want to return it).
I also dislike that they force a landline on you and charge you another $10 on you. Who in 2019 needs a landline? What I find somewhat dishonest, is how the sell it. I get that most advertising is not supposed to reflect reality, but it's sort of strange that you get excited about ads that say and "1GBPS internet at $40 a month" and only a year later realize that you're paying $75 a month instead. And that's something that's public, who knows what else about their business is as deceptive.
I suppose that's why Sonic has survived. I suppose that's the kind of business you need to run if you want to have a successful ISP.

Curious, what do people who work with embedded systems usually use to get a web interface for their device? Routers, for as long as I can remember have had a web UI though I'm not really sure what sort of a back end runs it.
Isn't that the real problem? You're a company that says "here's 15 seconds to convey some information". Yet, you aren't able to convey the information you wanted to (i.e the ad for your service) in 15 seconds. I think they missed a trick with this ad.
When I was living in the United states I was able to use services like Netflix and spotify and get the content I wanted whenever I wanted where ever I wanted. Now, I that live in India, I cannot get that content legally. I cannot watch the TV shows I want to watch as they are aired (I have to wait 2-3 years for stuff to come on TV). The ONLY option I have is to download tv shows via torrents / find some online stream and discover new music via grooveshark. Its not that I can't pay for the content, or don't want to, its that I quite literally cant!
