Could you explain the reasoning behind the need for a new name?
I ask this because would it not have been a better choice to name the other releases differently.
For example:
Docker (docker/docker) = open source development.
Docker CE (docker/docker-community) = free product release
Docker EE (docker/docker-enterprise) = commercial product release based on Docker CE (private).
The components that the monolith is being broken into could just live beside the other repos in the docker organization:
Partly! The tools they mentioned (IDE, Mercurial) don't impact the app itself though. Which makes them irrelevant and doesn't factor into why their codebase is massive.
Wow, you've just described my current state of being. I literally froze up mentally last weekend because I had too many things on my mind. Things related to learning/projects/ideas. I kept jumping between them, like a processor performs context switching, but a lot less successfully. It was like bouncing a ball between two walls, and slowly making the gap smaller. The ball's bounces increase exponentially until it cannot anymore. It's at this point you've crashed.
At the bottom of http://prometheus.io/docs/introduction/comparison/ there is: "... Prometheus will be simpler to run initially, but will require explicit sharding once the capacity of a single node is exceeded."
