I haven't thought about the bigco tech interview process like this. But now you put it out, it makes perfect sense :) I tried white board interviews about 10-12 years ago with big companies and failed miserably. Then I decided never to take a white board coding interview again which I haven't done yet. However, after working for startups and a few acquisitions later I ended up in a silicon valley big company without doing a white board coding interview. I'm not sure where I went with the story, may be to show that there are alternatives if you don't want to do white board coding.
True, you have a point. Personally, if I wasn't fairly compensated I would just leave. I can understand that there could be situations that changing jobs might not be straight forward.
I think any note taking or PKM doesn't fit everyone's need 100%. We have to adopt a system and make changes to match our needs. I too started with Zettlekasten but the system I am using now doesn't follow atomic notes at all.
I'm not sure if I agree with this approach. I would say ask for a raise without showing you have an offer from another company. If they don't then leave. I feel like it is awkward to show them that you have offer and then stay. But It could be just me.
Absolutely! Once I tried to cancel SiriusXM for an old car it was a nightmare.I had to call and wait for hours to get someone. Never signup for SiriusXM since then.
Agree! I felt like puppet missed an opportunity to be an IaaC for cloud providers/provisioning, especially with containers. From my experience, developers switch to other tools (terraform, ansible, etc) to fill the gap.
I feel like almost everyone is working on some variant of digital garden/zettlekasten/digital slip box since the pandemic started. At least that's when I found out about it.
I started reading this, while I enjoyed the aspects of the ride, I found the philosophical discussion is rather boring. I may be lack the philosophy background to really appreciate the discussion.
I also deleted FB about a year ago. However I don't use LinkedIn to keep in touch with friends. I text them and call them. I feel like relationship with my friends improved after deleting FB. Also, number of friends reduced too. YMMV
True, I already have a cleaning service. They come every two weeks and clean the house. Honestly, I'm not satisfied with instacart and all the hidden fees they have/had (last time I used). What is interesting about an individual is they will learn your preferences and have more context in ones preferences as time goes.
This is really interesting. I wish if I can hire someone to clean my house and do grocery shopping for me. If you don't mind me asking, how many hours/per week she works for you?
