Only way to stop this is to make it so they make no money from doing it and also make it really uncomfortable for their execs. If they feel the blow back personally they will stop doing it.
I have a low tolerance for bs like this. I usually articulate why its bs to my manager to give them a chance to fix it and if they are unwilling to i get a new job. No point in staying to deal with that kind of bs, life is short.
I always give the same feedback for this type of bs. Actions speak louder than words. If you have to tell people how great a company's culture is it clearly isn't.
I am happy to hopefully see the decline of amp. Remeber this is not all happening in a vacuum. Remeber google has been pushing to do things like remove the url bar from browsers too. It is pretty obvious what the end game is.
This type of crap is why I stopped using windows and macos. I don't want my security to be compromised because of some idiot in a suit making a bad call.
Well if you want to stop vpn services stop doing region locked content.
In this day and age region locking isn't really feasible. Vpns are a solution to your crapy business practice not a problem.
I hate AMP. It is just a tech to give google more control. Anything to helps kill it off is a good thing. It is possible to create pages that load fast on mobile without it.
Its often cheaper to hire a few devs to work on opensource projects your company relies on than pay for some proprietary software. Also allows you to retain control too.
Way i see it is there are 2 camps of people when it comes to desktop computing. There are most regular people who just see it as a tool and want it to let them do what they want without having to put much thought into it. They will have various levels of skill but don't care much past that.
Then there are the people who I think of as enthusiasts. Who have have different things they care about and cause all the arguments and pedantic nit picking. There are the fanboys who love tech created by a company and always like to have the newest thing from them. There are the people who really into making their desktop look pretty. Finally there is the group who likes to have total control of their workflow and hate having features taken away (group i belong to).
So looking at all of this it is no wonder most people are not interested in desktops and the group that is are only going to like it if its from their brand of choice.
This is why I try to get drm free ebooks when possible or at least breakable drm. I like paying for it so the author gets paid but i don't want some 3rd party being able to revoke my access.
Regardless of being out at sea for 14 days. If the border is closed you can't enter the country. Just because you arrive in a boat by yourself doesn't change this.
