So I decided it was about time to learn React and I needed a pet project to sink my teeth into. PXXL was born, a react powered pixel editor. After 6 days of development I'm releasing it into the wild.
It's rough round the edges and i'm sure there are bugs, as well as lots of missing features that you might expect in a pixel editor... but I've reached a point where I just wanted to release it and get some feedback.
At worst I've taught myself some react and at best someone might actually find it useful :)
Exploring the capabilities and uses of interactive data visualization, this social experiment will let users anonymously post a thought that other users can see and respond to.
voix.space has great potential for sprints, creative idea sharing and general therapeutic catharsis (including suggesting a pub trip).
NOTE: This experiment was developed as part of a 2 day labs event. You may encounter bugs and it currently does not function on mobile or in safari. :(
Or remove it entirely... You don't need to "scan" anything to "get started". So it's not even an accurate piece of guidance for the user. Or am I missing something?
I'm currently in the process of developing a service that will visualize all of your project blockers on a single dashboard, visible by all team members and that will also broadcast those blockers instantly to all team members, and likewise let them all know when the blocker has been resolved.
The idea sparked from becoming increasingly frustrated with tickets being blocked for various reasons and while those tickets were all visible in our project management tools, not all team members were regularly checking the board or noticing that things were blocked. It becomes increasingly difficult when various people are not working at the same location.
I'm looking for some feedback on the idea. Is this something you've struggled with in your team? How did you solve it? Would a tool like this be useful?
I'm currently working on a platform to facilitate this sort of thing called http://hivemindly.com but it's not yet ready for a public launch. You can register your interest though.
Today I'm announcing the release of FireLite, a very simple C# TCP socket server/client library.
The purpose behind this project is to power an online game I am developing, so I will be continuing to work on and improve FireLite alongside developing a custom server/client based on the FireLite.Core library.
I built this because I couldn't find a simple implementation of TCP sockets that included a client library too, most of the projects out there are just servers or just clients. Either that or they were overly complicated and opinionated.
FireLite makes no assumptions about what you want to transfer over the network. It simply writes and reads bytes. It is up to you to decide what you want to send. For a starting guide there are two sample apps. One "SimpleServer" that sends strings over the network, the other "JsonPacketServer" which sends JSON objects over the network.
Hopefully this will be useful to some people out there!
Hi HN! This is my first Android game and I am very keen to get some feedback from you guys. It is an early release, but I have found that early releases are great for gathering feedback and progressing the product for the better.
I appreciate this game will not be for everyone, but constructive criticism is highly welcomed.
This is a very open question... you won't get much use from the responses unless you specify what it is you're trying to establish.
Are you interested in getting into programming but want to know which one will earn you the most money? Again, that's not a straight forward question.
Programming comes in tons of different forms... e.g. Desktop apps, mobile apps, games, simulations, algorithms, data manipulation, data analysis etc etc.
I would advise that you pickup a decent entry level programming language like C# or Java. Once you know the fundamentals you will quite easily be able to transfer your skills to other languages...
Don't pick a language "because it makes the most money".
On a related note, but not strictly in response to your question, there is a high demand for software developers currently and I foresee this continuing for a long time. It is a great industry to be in if you are concerned about job security.
You can now remove your account. Since we don't send any emails yet, there is not option to disable email updates. But I will be pro-actively adding this option soon so that people can opt out before hand.
Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback. I have tried to reply to as many as I can. I greatly appreciate all of your comments, the good and the bad!
Please keep the feedback coming. This is exactly the reason I released this app early! :)
