I have also thought about this lately although not exactly in terms of being taken seriously as a developer but I am noticing more and more that, the "publicly seen" portable computer of choice is Mac OS X. In more and more recorded video tutorials, presentations(seminars)- you see the developer using Mac OS X. Sure I know it doesn't matter what you use as long as the job gets done. However sometimes you wonder why a mentor or someone you learn from change from say a Linux box to a Mac. You want to know what tipped the scale in favour of a Mac.
Its quite fascinating seeing heavy weights have a go at each other. Most of the discussion here is right over my head but I find myself quite enjoying it. At least its better that the current boxing heavy weight scene. This is about the only post on hacker news that I have read comments on from start to finish. Brilliant all!
I agree, parents should be asked to pay a small fee. The cost of a burger will not be bad. I am planning on starting something like that in my children's school if the head will agree. In order not to disadvantage the really needy families, I don't mind teaching such children for free, but that need must be proven in order to stop abuse.
I have never done this before,(ie buy a book based on the Table of content), but this is going to be my first. I am pre ordering from Amazon UK. Do you have any idea when it will reach sellers outside the US?
Oh and I hope for a first edition the typos are not too much?
What version of python did you cover? I've gone through the table of content and since you introduce? Django, I take if you cover python 2.x and not 3.0? Any way well done.
Doesn't the new auto complete and the plug-in SublimeCodeIntel do the same thing? One of my concerns is that say you are using a plug-in for a feature that is later implemented into Sublime, now you haven't read the what's new so you have no idea. What happens then?
