She is always annoyed by the fact that in the US, the medical employees (especially the residents) work way more than in France, but are also a lot less productive than in France. I do not like to generalize from examples, but saying that they are entirely productive is not true.
Also medical professions cannot be easily compared to engineering (not the same type of work, and most of the time the issues are more important in their field (human lives at stakes...)).
If you can afford it (both financially and regarding math background), Bishop is a really great choice. Almost everything you need to know is in it. I have it and just love it!
But he goes quite deep in the mathematical explanations (which is a great point, there is no better way to learn and understand) meaning you have to be willing to work on your math for this book.
I don't know if there is an english version of the whole documentary, but if there is, I strongly recommend it (plus, there are strong contributions by Villani who won Fields medal).
