Absolutely! The problem starts with companies that carry job applications using forms that disallow any type of creativity. I understand that certain job types really don't require a lot, but at least for the tech field, applicants should start focusing more in what really matters.
Comparing Java and .NET is unfair. Java was created in the 90's. .NET is way younger than that. .NET was created with Java in mind, and of course it's a better language.
Yeah, I do believe though that this year they messed it up really bad. Their products might have been buggy... it's software after all. But this year they are really really buggy.
