Typing from M1 MBA I picked this weekend. I don't think I enjoyed any device since 2012 MBA so much. Love keyboard, unlock by watch, portability, and unparalleled battery life. Screen is a compromise (coming from 2019 MBP 16") but I am okay with that.
Been following this for years - my email volume is enormous. Having all DL mails go to another folder was not sufficient. Making cc emails go to another folder clearly identifies anything that “might” need my attention vs. FYI emails.
I really hope PBS is working with other service providers (Apple? Google Play?) to bring the same programming. I don't want to pay Amazon tax (additional $10 per month prime fees) to be able to use this service.
There is an assumption that developers "knew" how the code being implemented is going to be used. In a big company like FB, as an IC or team, the context under which code gets developed may be far removed from how it gets used. I can imagine a scenario where someone developed this code for testing FB app on devices, another engineer had similar need and morphed it into different product etc.
The solution to these problems is oversight from security, compliance, and privacy on all systems dealing with consumer information, and having privacy education for all employees on regular basis. GDPR is a step in that direction.
From my time with prepaid on T-mobile, most of these fees are imposed on post-paid connections.
I am seriously considering AT&T prepaid to avoid these gimmick fees. for 2 lines 50/mo plan i'll end up paying 70 - https://www.att.com/prepaid/plans.html
I can see low cost ARM based MacBook (savings from not paying Intel tax) marketed as long battery high end hardware replacement for ChromeBooks. It can still run modified OS X which allows for Mac App Store apps (MS Office just announced Mac App Store support), browser, email etc. Throw in native iTunes/iPhoto with cloud storage and you got a pretty nice offering.
Don’t forget that as you use your machine for visiting other sites, your usage is being tracked using Advertising ID that most platforms expose. You don’t need the same browser, the ID is stable until you reset it.
"IT pros can use various methods, including Group Policy and Mobile Device Management (MDM), to choose a telemetry level. If you’re using Windows 10 Enterprise, Windows 10 Education, or Windows Server 2016, the Security telemetry level is available when managing the policy. Setting the telemetry level through policy overrides users’ choices."
