Project: I am developing a platform that lets people try any products before buying them. Its free if they buy one of the products they try on the spot or else they shell out a tiny flat fee for the trial.
I was 16 then. I cut out the meat intake immediately. I happened to one day take a stroll in a part of the town where butcher shops were in plenty and I stood and observed the butchering process out of curiosity. Whatever I saw left me pale and horrified. I came back home and cried a lot. The shrieks and cries of the hen didn't leave my mind. And I decided from that day onwards that I wouldn't kill for my taste buds.
Facebook's login page says "connect and share with friends".
1. The connection part is true, partially. Facebook for me keeps my hold of people I knew or met in the past. But I almost never add new connection via facebook. It is always via, whatsapp or linkedin.
2. The sharing part is done well (for uploaded or created content) but there is a lot of noise from all the pages and ads. So,even when done well, it doesn't encourage me to share much over there given it only reaches to probably only a fraction of my connections.
Very specific and concentrated search and discovery sites eg., producthunt, zomato, yelp, quora (if they execute really well) will out do google as I think, leaving only discovery of these sites (and their content, like for almost every google search I end up going to SO or Quora) and contextual information as a problem for them to address.
I am building a platform for people to share and discover the best attributes and abilities about the people they know with the help of stories (incidents) about them.
People coming from scroll-through-attend-nirvana kind of platforms like fb, twitter etc are expected to behave that way.
Shouldn't you build a rather very specific landing pages for these click-throughs and then compare their behavior? I personally feel that redirection to very good article on your site would rather have them more interested than sending them to a landing page.
Also, I just bought this domain - ycalumsfor.me
