There are some new 10DLC self-regulations coming down the pipes. The cell carriers and “demanding” action on spam SMS and instead of letting the FCC get involved, they all said “hey, we can do this ourselves!” And The Campaign Registry was born, and along with it 10DLC. Starting December 1 at the latest (some are Sept 1) cell carriers won’t accept non-10DLC SMS traffic to ingress into their networks. The 10DLC registration process includes setting up and verifying your “Brand” (company) and “Campaign” (what you’re doing with SMS). A large part of it is proving you have end user permission for SMS, opt in and opt out information, privacy policy, and the like. Once all of that is done, it goes to the provider where your DIDs are attached to the Campaign. Now, can’t wait to see how all this works in practice!

Multiple paths on a Layer 2 network provide redundancy when used with a protocol such as LACP. Without proper design, 2 network segments connected with multiple links will trigger Spanning Tree and shut down one of the links. And depending on the configuration, it may or may not unshut if the active link pair goes down.

Anecdotal story: I have a friend who works for the Indiana State Police and was on the committee to procure new service pistols. In every category, the Springfield XD won. Problem was, it had a grip safety. ISP requirements dictate that no safeties could interfere with operation when needed, as they may have to fire in a compromising situation if in a struggle, for example. Not being able to firmly grip the pistol and engage the safety was a non-starter. When drawn, the firearm had to fire if the trigger was pulled every time. So Glock it was, which only has a trigger safety.
