Well, LaTeX is a (slight) improvement over TeX, which was written by D Knuth. I don't think that is what they would give a Turing Award to someone for.
He was not particularly a good father figure. He spent very little time with his sons (who his ex-wife Mileva Marić, took care of). If I remember correctly, he also had a daughter with Maric, Lieserl... he actually never really knew... giving her in adoption...
Again! I've been hearing the "switch to functional!" spiel since the 70s (being honest, since sometime in the 60s, but I digress)... stop it already! Hasn't happened in 40 years, won't happen now.
