Why not try a president of Python every 4 years with no term limits? Similar to BDFL, except there are chances for change and a consistent voice throughout a term. Voters would consist of core devs and PSF.

Like the firefighting idea. Might as well throw policing in there as well. An army of sufficiently smart drones should be enough to drastically reduced the size of those labor pools.
Now that JavaScript and Python are #1 and #2, respectively, it opens the door for Elm/Haskell in the next 5 - 10 years. As noobs continue to flood/dilute the market, FP seems like a good bet to move the state of advanced computing forward. That being said, the frameworks react and tensorflow/scikit learn will still be in demand for the next 5 years so there's still high demand for the right framework knowledge.
As a python programmer, I found R's pdftools to be indispensable for messy text based PDFs. I couldn't find a python lib that worked as consistently across variously different formats.
Would be interesting to see this study done for disease in just children since their birth month should correlate much stronger with weather and environmental factors
Maybe we should have some kind of tor phone that randomizes phone numbers and scrambles the sound over the wire and reconstitutes the sound through some well engineered Kickstarter phone.
My biggest issue with bitcoin is that it should be redeemable for something tangible other than $USD. The first virtual currency that addresses this and is directly convertible to watts or calories will be the currency to beat.
