It is nonsense, treating a user as a criminal is not a security threat. DRM is just encryption, and although I'll agree that some containers (flash primarily) have been vectors, so has every other piece of software that has any filesystem access. The DRM itself is NOT a security threat.
I dislike DRM, and clearly envision a day where it's no longer used. But your argument doesn't address the article, nor does it add any value to the DRM conversation as a whole. Again, cheerleading.

The problem I have with apt, yum, etc... is that the packages for development are so old that you're going to be compiling from source and managing your own updates, which is exactly the problem a good package manager should solve.
Yea, I noticed this in the undocumented API's, but haven't played much with it. It's definitely cleaner than C#'s reflection implementation, but more limited as well. Though for most uses, knowing the limitations solves most of the issues the OP has.
I have clothes, therefore I should accept whatever I'm told to accept. I'm glad the founding fathers did not think as you. They revolted over taxes on tea, freedom and privacy was paramount. I understand revolution perfectly, and I fear a government that has absolute power, which is any government when you don't have privacy and the government has all your secrets. I fear that far more than I fear any terrorist boogey man.
I'm actually surprised, I would have figured that by this point, there would have been a revolution, or at least mutterings. The federal government is actually circumventing the law and the justice system in order to illegally incarcerate citizens. The American government is the enemy of the American people by the governments own admission.

Egyptians putting Egyptians on trial has almost nothing to do with the rest of the world. It's Egyptians doing it to themselves, and really isn't our concern anymore than it is your concern for how we sentence drug crime here. Besides, An African or Middle Eastern country doing something stupid is so common place, it's simply not news anymore.
Regardless, it would be bigger news if a western country jailed an Egyptian for telling false news. Reporters are still sacred for a while longer in the west, and to imprison a reporter goes beyond a chilling effect.

And when we're talking about disposable income, that means the income after taxes, comparable to Americans after taxes, the health care is FREE because it was covered in the taxes before to make the calculation. We also call it free, because it is free to use the services, not free of cost.
I doubt it, Canadian here so I can't speak to the mumblings. All I can off is anecdotal information from talking to Americans when I'm down there, and the middle class don't understand how poor they are in America compared to their wealthy. They seem to feel that they're almost wealthy, but what they don't realize is that the difference between the middle and lower classes is a rounding error compared to the wealth of the upper class. They also don't realize that a middle class Canadian has more disposable income than their southern equivalent, and yet Americans receives almost none of the free health care or other social safety nets. As a man whose had 6 major surgeries, two while unemployed after Dell closed up shop in Edmonton, I can say that without that safety net, I may very well have ended up on the street. Which you don't see a lot of here.
I just want to add that there are several references in the bible to there being an under the earth, and if we look at the latin where this is more clear, it doesn't mean inside, but below. The old testament is not scientifically accurate.
Believe whatever mythology you want, I will fully defend your right to do so. But do not try to force your agenda on those that don't follow or share your doctrine though made up fiction masquerading as science. Evolution through natural selection exists, it's demonstrable, and the only piece we do not have a precision view of is speciation. But not unlike the Higgs, when we have all the other pieces, we can extrapolate, and we have some pretty solid theories on how this happens, and evidence that through husbandry, we as humans have caused it to happen through human selection.
