I owe my entire career to the high school internship I had in the IT department at Cyrix in Richardson, circa 1996. It was awesome. Learned everything about building PCs for employees and Windows networking. So much free hardware walked out the door -- usually stuff that was slightly out of date, just stacks of it everywhere. Spent the next three summers there through college too. It was really exciting there at that time, Internet age just taking off. They had beer at 4PM on Fridays out back.
Everything went downhill with the series of acquisitions. Anyway, I'm grateful for my time there... I can trace where I am now directly back to the guy who first gave me a chance there.
Moved all my domains and many of my friends' domains to namecheap a few years back. I'm always impressed by how quick and informed customer support is whenever I have an issue. Good job, guys.
As a small time musician with about 20 albums in as many years up on the streaming services, I am 100% fine with this trade-off. I get basically nothing, but in return I can share my musically instantly with anyone. It's pretty awesome really. It would suck to have to make a living off music or art.
I'm still uncertain how I'm supposed to lead twins through online Kindergarten and write software all day. They can't even fucking use scissors without my help.

I'm really tempted here. I've got a paid Ableton license, and I absolutely love Ableton, but it's the main thing keeping me from dumping Windows 10 for Linux.
it was acute gut-wreching pain that we weren't sure what to do about, didn't know if it was going to get worse... we should have gone to an "urgent care" clinic, which was our mistake.
i work for a tech company in the fortune 500 top 25... i would assume the best insurance possible, still killing us (paid nearly $7000 out of pocket last year + the actual premium costs of several thousand more). i've got three small kids including one with a heart condition, so it's particularly bad right now.
We decided (slash "made the mistake") of going to the emergency room last summer. Spent less than two hours in an exam room before being dismissed with no conclusion and referral to another doctor. Got a $9500 bill about six months later and have been billed a 10% copay on that (insurance paid $5500 already at their negotiated rate). Still fighting it as absolutely absurd, but there's really no hope. This country is fucked. It's an embarrassment.
It's possibly the only piece of software I look forward to using. Everything is right about it. I'm currently remastering a bunch of old albums for digital distribution, so I've been using it a ton. I don't know why every UI isn't required by law to have drag up/down to mean zoom on a timeline/scrollbar type control.
