It connects to the Pocket API to get the parsed articles, pushes them through quite a lot of BS4 clean up, then renders them using paged.js. The resulting PDFs are then printed by Lulu.com, and they come once a month as a printed book to read completely offline.
I solved the Medium image issue with CSS as far as I remember. `.medium\.com svg:first-of-type` and then set it to `display: none`.
I make WP* for exactly this reason. I'm about to finish a 12 hour edition that I made to test if the printers could handle it (they could) and there's no way I'd have read that much on my phone.
I read mostly fiction books too. (At bed time mostly) For articles I save them them to Pocket, and then every so often I'll edit the list.
I make a zine called https://WaldenPond.press that I get delivered once a month. Then I leave my phone inside and read for 20 minutes or so on the balcony while I have a coffee in the morning.
It doesn't sound like much, but I'm consistently getting through the 4 hour edition in about 2 weeks. Then I switch to just reading my fiction book in the morning as well as at night.
Well spotted. I set that page up before I've even started on the rest of the site because I needed it for the auth, and haven't gone back to it. It'll give me something to do this weekend! Thanks for the reminder.
I’m Digitising Jonathan Glover’s book, What Sort of People Should There Be?
It's some early philosophy of what it would mean to live entirely in VR, how designer babies should work, all the cool stuff that was purely academic when it was written, but is pretty close to real now!
