The Power of Habit by Charles Duhigg. I can honestly say it's not only impacted the way I think about habits, but it's impacted my actual habits as well, and for the better I might add! Leisure read turned life hack textbook :)
I am in my first startup, and am very much the beginner in more ways than one. And the days that go well are the days when I feel like the environment I work in values learning above all else.
I think it's important to remember that teaching is a lifestyle more so than a job description. You see this in the best teachers, and as a beginner, it's important to find those people that enjoy for the sake of communicating knowledge.
I would hesitate to call the mere act of playing with dolls a dangerous activity, I think you're making too big a leap...
In my opinion, the image boys playing with dolls is just a way of translating the importance of a paradigm shift to us adults that already have these pre-determined notions of what dolls are for. Boys and girls develop in very different ways, each individual will find something to play with that brings them happiness and meaning. What really needs to change is the undercurrent of the parents'/guardians'biases (or the biases of any role models in these kids lives for that matter) that tell the kids what dolls/tonka trucks represent. Then playing with dolls becomes more about exploring than conforming.
Your writing made me think a lot about the crazies/true innovators, and I agree with how you see those people adding value to our world. But I also think that there are not enough people who seek to shift paradigms, not just through the products and services that exist in them, but through inviting everyone into a discourse of change. I'd be curious to hear from you how (and if) this TED Talk relates to your writing:
