Given that multi-datacenter replication is a reality in massive systems, using the point of storage to determine jurisdiction seems like an antiquated idea. Perhaps a system based on the point of origin of data would lead to more enforceable and amicable legislation...

With the same name, same logo, same sponsoring parent organization, held at the same university? I also distinctly recall a meeting where the executive director from the last hackathon, who is now running this one, informed the members former team that you would be joining on for this semester's MHacks.

Please, do explain how this MHacks is inaugural or different.

[Max from the Team] Unfortunately, we don't have it up on a site. The reason here is that the MIDI keyboard is connected via USB, and thus would require us to establish a TCP connection to the server. The additional latency could definitely have a negative impact on responsiveness, which is a tradeoff that we didn't want to make at this time.

That being said, remote hosting of the site would be the next big feature, if we continue working on the application. ;-) [edit]

Before universities were teaching CS, they were teaching mathematical logic, linear algebra, calculus, linguistics, and electrical engineering.

A general CS degree just distills the good parts out of those fields and mixes in courses teaching the foundations of computer and systems architecture. (In general anyway)

This, in concept, really epitomizes an unfortunate trend towards making programming and development "easier" and "more accessible".

As I see it, this is no longer "Node.js, JSON, MongoDB, and Cloudfoundry". It certainly uses all of those technologies, but in reality, you are learning "Fire.js".

Even with a polished version, it doesn't seem like a developer would ever learn how to use the underlying technologies in an expressive, applicable manner. It just comes off as another excuse for developers to side-step learning about and getting into "the thick of it".

This was a hackathon project, so we haven't looked that far into the future quite yet. If we reach that point, then we'll consider all of the existing Map APIs and how well they fit into our application.

If you haven't logged in with Facebook, then that is most likely the issue. If you have, then it's probably a bug that we'll address in the future.

If you log in with Facebook, a window will actually display on mouse-over that gives the basic event info. It's a bug that we're currently working to fix.

We only aggregate public events. Our goal is to build a great event discovery application that leverages the massive number of events on Facebook.

If you sign in with your Facebook account, the events that you are connected with will be added to our DB, drastically improving your results.
