I hope the UK remains stable and grows even after leaving the EU. It's sad to see the most common sentiment among remain voters is to hope everything about the UK will crash and burn because results weren't what they expected.
It's perfectly fine. Just go through the naturalization process that is available to you, swear allegiance to the Queen and you can have your say in the country's future.

BULLSHIT. I was very self conscious of my big nose but Asian women love it! The first time I heard 'I like your nose! it's so nice' I couldn't believe it.

So for how long will the python community pretend that performance isn't a problem? (Inb4 "all the intensive parts of my app are written in C", addendum: "my app isn't CPU bound", "we have libraries written in C")
The interpreters (esp CPython) need some hardcore engineering (like how javascript got V8). Languages that have the same theoretical performance limits of Python are now blowing it out of the water.
The stories about teams that were able to go down from N servers to 1 server by switching from Python to Go/Scala/node.js will hurt it in the long run.
I'm among those who think this organization isn't doing it right, but I'm a 'colored' developer. Does that make my opinion any more valid than the white men's ?
To me this is as beneficial as a 'white girls rap' bootcamp, but hey, whatever helps.
This looks like a great program that hits the right audience - people who know how to code, and will surely end up programming professionally when they're done. Unlike the many bootcamps popping up that make minority kids write toy apps and hope they'll take up computer science later. A good use of Google's money.
I disagree with racism being an issue keeping blacks & latinos from open source / free software development and I don't understand why people keep talking about barriers to software development. These days computers are ubiquitous (in the developed world at least). You can be poor but still afford a computer, and all the knowledge and tools you need are available for free. The only potential barriers I see is having the skills required to make useful contributions to an established project (something at the level of the existing developers) and free time.
About myself: I didn't go to a great school; Didn't have friends or classmates who were interested in computers or programming; Didn't have a role model to inspire or guide me; Never went to a workshop or joined a user group; Never attended a computer science class until I was in college.
I got fascinated by computers by reading about them in a newspaper when I was a kid, and had to go on a hunger strike every night until my father caved in and bought one for the house. By the time I was 15 I worked together with 4 guys to build a popular website and we developed a file editor together. We collaborated over IRC and what's interesting is that we knew nothing about each other except our nicknames and where we lived (This was before social networks became popular). Nothing else mattered except our mutual interest and skill.
I know love makes you do stupid things, but we live in a time of instant publishing, cloud galleries, face recognition and the biggest lie in college that is "I won't show anyone, I promise".
Even celebrities with hundreds of thousands to burn can't control how their images go around on the internet. So when your clothes are off and you're worried about strangers seeing you, don't use the camera. Who knows when app will show up that allows any photo of a face to be instantly matched up against the billions of profile pics on Google+ / Facebook.
Really, when you're betting everything on startups, which is a risky endeavor, it's best not to have 4 kids (3 of which look like they'll be in college at the same time) until you're well settled.
Also I did think of editing that part out because I know it makes me look like a giant asshole, but it was too late.
I'm sure I'm not the only one who isn't happy with the other choices (like why include Sheryl Sandberg but not Mark Zuckerberg, and Narendra Modi), but I wanted to vote for Edward Snowden anyway.

Don't get your hopes up. Everyone has a lot to say on this topic and why 'Our culture is bad. Everyone should grow up - having your nudes online is not a big deal', but they'll never deliver themselves.
