Sure, on the router configuration page, I get that it might inform you that you don't have a connection. But (a) why only contact one company server? can't they ping anything else? and (b) why would you disable DNS if you suspect a problem with the connection? surely if there were a problem, the addresses wouldn't resolve and the result would be the same

Honestly the native version looks better to me. And it has the desired functionality of blocking the UI thread... I don't think you should encourage anyone to use alerts by making them prettier.

From the comments here, it seems a lot of you missed the bit at the end about Lyft aggressively recruiting Uber drivers. My impression is that Uber is less subtle about it, and perhaps less ethical / more aggressive, but still, competition is competition. If Lyft were such an underdog, then Uber wouldn't be so afraid of them. From a consumer perspective, I hope that competition cools off a bit -- the price drops are great, but if they keep escalating, neither company will be particularly friendly. It would also be terrible if one company were edged out completely, ending the price wars.

That said, I always take Lyft -- simply because Uber doesn't work for my phone.

As to the sugar, I find myself using stevia a lot now. You have to experiment with it; with some foods, you really notice the taste, and it doesn't work very well as a sweetener. But in greek yoghurt, for instance, stevia tastes really nice and not at all unlike sugar.

That brings me to a second point; as a vegetarian, one of my best investments was a simple reusable yoghurt strainer. Natural yoghurt has a lot of carbs in the form of lactose, but straining it into greek-style yoghurt removes these sugars, leaving protein and fat (which you can control by choosing no/low/full fat yoghurt). Add some stevia to it, and you've got a healty breakfast, snack, and/or dessert without any carbs.

I think it should also be said that relying solely on soya protein is not the best idea. It's a complete protein, yes, but there's very little we understand about nutrition--one of the few things we do know is that variety is better. That being said, the firmer the tofu, the fewer carbs--plus it's easier to cook (fries up nicer). If you get sick of tofu, paneer is a good alternative, and easy to make as well.

Finally, chia seeds can be a useful addition. They don't have a taste (but they absorb an incredible amount of liquid, so you can soak them overnight to make pudding), but are packed with fat, protein, and fibre (approx. 32% fat / 16% protein / 35% fibre / 7% net carb by weight).

I do not want localised search results. If I wanted to search for Chinese food in Chicago, then I would ask for it specifically. I initially switched to DDG because of the insistence on giving me "personalised" results. BS. I came here to search the entire internet, not just for things that are specific to Google's picture of me. It almost always made for awful results, especially when it ranked local sites higher than anything actually relevant or useful. Same goes for recent news. If I want recent news, I'll go to the website of a newspaper in my area. Why would I search for that?

Maybe it's because I grew up with web search as just that -- a way of finding websites. I don't search for information; I search for websites which provide me the information I need. I can see how Google's algorithms work for some people, but for me, DDG is exactly what I want. If I typed everything I ever wanted to know directly into Google, then I'm getting the information Google wants me to see, including if someone pays for the placement. I don't like that kind of control, and I don't like the idea of a single entity controlling the flow of knowledge over the internet. So I don't use Google.

Is it possible to have the extra half of labels auto-expand, when chat is hidden? There is a lot of extra space in the sidebar now.

It sounds like a good idea, but it won't be very fun if no one uses it. I imagine having some difficulty explaining "ephemera app" to a wide audience.
