We usually "region propose" and crop to a certain area (in this case the face area, usually at 256x256) then transform to align eye areas before passing to training. This is to standardize the data beforehand. I'm not sure if this lib does region proposal but you can easily write a pre-processor with openCV face plugins to identify face regions (if any, maybe your training image is a landscape not a face!) for cropping.

Nice and clean, but your color palette needs another round of iteration – I like the overall tonal feel, but using red vs. green as opposite signifiers leaves a majority of the color blind out.
Red/Green is the most common range of color blindness. Azure is a common substitute for green, or try some other combinations that move away from the Stop Light feel which is a bit overplayed anyway.
The Red Hook mesh is not related to meshnet (meshnet is a reddit.com/r/darknetplan intitiave from the beginning).
This one was developed directly with the community from the beginning, and it is still growing today. The city now funds Digital Stewards (local residents who learn about mesh networking) to expand and maintain their own network.
I developed the app, working closely with the movement at Zuccotti Park. I am very aware of technology that tries to "fix" something that is deemed wrong, but I was intent on simply augmenting systems already in place. I just noticed a problem when these systems scaled up, during larger rallies, so I felt that some minimal technology could help.
As far as the voting, it's really not about hard number voting as much as it is a general "temperature check" like the hand signals that work well in smaller occupy rallies do – this is just giving a rough estimate of the consensus of the crowd...nobody is counting each hand wriggling in the air, but in large rallies the speaker can't see all those hands to get that general perspective.
I imagined that speakers could pass the phone onto others, but a new mic can be easily created by calling the number and starting as a new speaker.
The phones don't just go away, they're get passed down.
