One note: Sorting on Ram Size column seems to be string sorting (e.g. descending order gives 96, 8,...,7.34,64), when it obviously should be numerical.
Knew what car I was interested in. - narrowed down the search to three different brands/models and wrote a scrapper for a local used cars website. Then this scrapper built up a DB of info about cars available, and I was able to easily query them, and have data about how long were those cars up there (how long from ad to sale), plot price graphs etc.
Bought a car with 10% less than the AVG price for the brand/model/year, with really small mileage.
Would've loved to have tried it, but sadly am stuck at "connecting to stranger". I guess the problem could be that I'm in Europe, so if all 3-9 strangers (that's the range of people staring during my waiting period) are in USA the ping is high so the system won't connect us.
Not sure it would qualify for 'public API', as you're self-hosting it, but I'd like to nominate ZeroMQ documantation[0]. To the point, with occasional comedic remark, lots of examples. Excellent.
Sorry, not saying that. I do have an option of either A2DP or HSP. I was not familiar with auto switch. But you kind people have filled me in in this thread.
A2DP sounds amazing for listening to music, no problems there. The problem is the hassle of switching between profiles, since I tend to use my headphones in work environment (calls, meetings) - this is the reason I still keep a pair of cabled headphones around.
Hm, not really sure about `auto_switch`, didn't dig deep enough to find it I guess. PulseAudio only offered HSF/HSP which sounded simply terrible. PipeWire's HSP sounds pretty good (mSBC codec), although it's still obviously worse than A2DP.
I'll have to look into auto switching and how to enable on either system.
Stumbled into PipeWire few months ago when trying to setup Bluetooth headset on Ubuntu OS. It's superior to PulseAudio, but...
Really unbelievable to comprehend that Linux distros have such bad support for Bluetooth audio headsets - something very common in today's tech world. Android, Windows and Apple's OS all very efficiently switch from A2DP codec which is excellent for audio playback, but has no possibility for bidirectional communication (so you can't use your microphone) and HSP/HFP coded which provides worse sound, but you can talk. Linux doesn't have this fixed, there were some attempts [0], but nothing great came out of it.
Not the reply you're looking for, but it's a topic I'm interested in. My current situation is that I'm employed in a startup that might be killed by the end of the year, if the next round of investing is found. If there is money - I'd like to stay and work here and at that point won't be interested in changing positions, but I need to think about options too at this point.
My line of thinking is as follows:
1) Follow "who is hiring" monthly posts on HN
2) Look on LinkedIn ads; do research on company which is hiring (if possible because sometimes agencies won't tell - in which case I'm probably not considering)
All ads are to be filtered by $TECH_STACK + Full-Remote.
Happy to follow this thread to find more interesting places.
As someone who will attend their fathers funeral tomorrow this really resonates. I do feel I didn't know him enough and that this feeling might haunt me in some moments later in life.

Happy to see that community here mainly considers Hobbes to be "a villain". I'd like to point to the very enjoyable book by Rutger Bregman - Humankind[0]. In it, the writer discusses the differences between two important philosophers - Hobbes on one side and Rousseau on the other. First one has a general idea that "people are bad and need to be contained", while the latter is opposite.
Hey, nice idea, I downloaded the app yesterday and run into some problems. 1) When leaving the office I have around 3.5 km to walk to my home, so I wanted to log it. The app (Android 10 device) didn't start tracking - I'll give this to my inexperience and the fact I didn't pay attention. This morning, when leaving home for work, I made sure it started tracking, but when I got to the office, I pull my phone out of the pocket, check the app and see its logged only about 0.3 km? Wait a few moments to give it a chance to update - nothing changes. I say OK, let's at least log this - click stop, and now I don't see any page where I can see my current (total) distance.
Anyhow, not really interested in Netflix subscription - just liked the idea and decided to participate. Good luck with your project.
