Why can't we have an actual hardware switch to enable/disable writing to the BIOS? It can be small and hidden away under the battery[which should be removable/replaceable].
BIOS updates aren't that frequent and are so important it makes sense to keep the BIOS in read-only mode for safety's sake with an actual, physical switch.
