The sky-high cost of everything needs to be factored in. Paying an engineer $100k a year will get them a lower standard of living than $50k would get them in Northern California.

However, the impression I got from that email exchange was not that they have great customer service and they really care about what he thought - it was that he hit on a really sensitive issue that they are super worried about and probably debate internally. Wouldn't surprise me at all if his email got directly forwarded to the top guys at FourSquare etc.
Nobody wants the kind of negative press Facebook has gotten over privacy and that Path, Hipster and everybody else who is doing this is probably about to get once the mainstream media catch wind of this...
The conspiracy theorist in me finds it interesting that the person who wrote this article is a partner at a firm backed by Eduardo Saverin and based in Singapore (where Saverin lives).

Without them 'using us' there would be no Facebook. It's a perfectly fine and acceptable tradeoff for most people. For the rest, there is a simple solution. Don't use Facebook.

Good find, thanks. I wouldn't say Reuters is 'clueless' about the meaning and they quoted Zuck several times laying out exactly what it means to him. Their point really was that the word hacker has different connotations to most people and this was an odd time for him to attempt to sway public opinion on the definition of the word. I agree with them, it was an odd time. That doesn't make it bad, maybe it was brilliant - but it was a strange thing to see in an IPO filing (again strange != bad).

for example one of the lists of lists on 'list of lists of lists' is 'lists of american films' and one of the lists there is 'list of american films of 1900' which contains, among others, 'Clowns Spinning Hats'.
I actually found one list of lists of lists on 'list of lists of lists'. 'Lists of Americans' > 'Lists of African Americans' > 'List of African American Jurists' > 'Dennis Archer'. Going to see if I can find another and create the epic 'list of lists of lists of lists'.
