I have an honest question. Why would anybody, ever, make an order number that only has 5 digits. Even if it's just a home-hobby project, the cost of changing to 7-10 digits is so small a d negligible that I can't see any reason for choosing anything lower. Like the 640k that was once "enough for the long term future" in DOS. I understand that hindsight is 2020, but can't wrap my head around not starting bigger when there's no extra cost (nearly).
As a 14 year old, learning to code and having written some small programs, I got word that the woman (27) I thought I was in love with, was getting married. It was just a crush but at that hormone filled age, my mind was a mess (almost as bad as it is now! )
It's common to play games and have other activities at wedding parties here. So I spent about a week developing Get The Picture software, to be used at the wedding.
Man I was so nervous it would crash or something, but it all went fine.
I remember the weird kiddo feeling that if I could have some influence over what happened at their wedding, my crush wouldn't have _really_ been lost. Oh the cringe...
If it truly was at the time of the original silkroad, you have to consider the change in value of btc since then to get a more realistic idea of the size and value of their business. Not saying it wasn't big, no idea, just stating we should consider that fact.
I couldn't get past two headlines before hitting the X in the forner
With the first thing you see being a request to pay (buy in print!!) and the second being a headline like "feminism needs capitalism like a fish needs a bicycle", well, I can't take it too seriously or "different".
From the article, which I find to be a nice read, this part particularly rings true to me:
"Pick team leaders wisely. A team leader is not an average developer with secretary duties no one else wants to carry out. A team leader is an inspiring master craftsperson; the role model; a person other teammates aspire to become. A team leader promotes technical excellence, spreads optimism, mentors people, and gives away the most interesting tasks to others."
Think bigger than what you see on the news please.
What you're describing is low level corruption. Now consider how many construction projects and government services are being 'outsourced' or 'privatized' and take wild guess how much money is ending up in the wrong pockets at that game. Not to mention the lack of quality control and general oversight that often comes along with it.
That's much worse than some traffic cops taking a cut or bribe. Which is also bad. But first the major corruption should be dealt with.
They are not talking about how they schedule and manage the family life. They are talking about desperately needing some time away from the family. Which is normal and healthy (depending on whether you discuss it and make time for yourself, or whether you escape trough alcohol and ridiculous amounts of time at work).
After a week - at most - none of the millions of users sees the "photoshopped image" anymore, it'll become ubiquitous. Mostly due to the fact that each and every image will have that label / text
I'm hereby patenting an idea or company that let's you input a story, a use some gui to modify the looks of each character, and let the tool this company provides, create a porn to your liking - per your provided input.
Even if it's in drawing/hentai form and not 'real' people.
I suspect if you're logged into Google or Facebook, that's uniquely added to the exif data. So if there is later a question of who keeps anonymously uploading that banned photo, they can trace you as the person (at least being the first link in the chain).
Also, statistics how many images are downloaded and then later found online again by Facebook at other places.
