I half expected this to be another IoT thing. The car broadcasting some form of wireless signal when it switches gears for some app integration, and the alarm picking that up.

Same here. Spotify finally pissed me off enough yesterday that I just went and cancelled and I'll see how Play works out. It's just far too buggy and I don't remember a day I haven't had problems with it lately.
Honestly, I'd extend this to any serious exercise. I'm not a big fan of weights, but I run a lot and it's profoundly changed things. All the research into +20% cognitive, getting tired a lot less, everything you've read that's been peer reviewed has proven to be true in my case.
The before and after is basically me being completely pumped and half-dead after my 8h vs. me taking a happy stroll out the office at the end of the day, going for a run and still putting in 4 more hours of whatever else I'm doing, easily. With 0 signs of burnout, when I was skirting the line for years before I started cardio.
To be honest, I haven't studied the visa types that deep (i.e., I probably know everything there is to know about the US ones, almost nothing about the Australian ones). I'm an EU (Latvian) citizen looking to get away from the clusterfuck that is post-brexit London to somewhere I haven't been an annoying number of times before.
Australia is on the shortlist of places I'm considering, so I'm not sure about the "see your future" part. It does generally sound nice and aligned with my views of the world, and it's definitely not a 1 year thing, so that sounds plausible.
From what I could find just now, a 457 does sound like the easiest path legally.
That sort of answers my question as well then I suppose, since the laws are stricter than what I found at first and contracting right away is a legal minefield.
UK is definitely one of them, and there's a support page listing them. Preordered mine within some 20 mins of it opening and no problem shipping to a London address.
There's the very obvious UX problem though, that for weight, all you need to do is step on a block of solid material, whereas this has a lot more friction in the process.
Not sure that's solvable, but that's been my main reason for not tracking these measurements for now.
So I got tired of not having any reasonable metrics library, because scales
* uses a thread for the decay ticker, which breaks it if you use Tornado with fork()
* uses "clever tricks" and gets frisky with stack-frames to figure out the metric paths; needless to say, this breaks in weird ways, including if you use @staticmethod
* is basically Java and flake8 gives you over 9000 warnings

The whole point of it is kind of moot though, an impulse burglar would just roam the neighbourhood to find a target and one with a specific target has better ways of finding out if the house is empty than 1 inhabitant posting to instagram... Not being at home is not what elicits criminal behaviour.
I'm a data engineer / full stack developer. I have close to 5 years of professional experience, have a machine-learning background and am passionate about distributed systems and scalability.
I'm currently looking for a London based or remote position, preferably in a start-up, with a great team of positive people. It would be nice if the product is data-driven -- scrapers, recommenders, analytics and the like are a perfect fit!
