Not only that but Github's asset server have gone down a number of times (for reasonable periods of time too) quite a few times in the past few months, rendering the frontend pretty much unusable. I suspect Pingdom wouldn't pick that up.
So do lots of services though. Hell, MegaUpload did. If you reported an infringing file to MegaUpload, they would remove it - and the same goes for many other websites. But that just doesn't cut it any longer, you often need to be more proactive to survive.
Personally I think the reason pastebin.com has survived is that it's not hosting videos or music. As soon as people start base64 encoded video en masse then things might change :-)
It's not really because you don't care, etc, it's just because you're not good enough.
Some people are knowledgeable, others are doomed to be Ruby programmers forever, but that's life.
Great idea for them, yes. For us? Awful.
Most of the time I bet the logos (which are ok but a bit generic) won't match what you have in mind for your site.
These people are no better than domain squatters - they're an unnecessary tax on startups.
A number of times now I've abandoned ideas after being unable to find a domain name as they're all taken by squatters, it's saddening :(
Ugh! These are just glorified domain sitters disguised as a trendy start-up. Please don't give these people your money - they ruin innovation by taking up massive amounts of domains then selling them for huge amounts.
These people RUIN the internet.
